Confidence

Image
Hey y’all this is definitely something I’ve been wanting to write about for awhile. It’s February, and I thought to myself let’s talk confidence, self love, and body love! This is important for everyone but extremely important for fat people of color. Fat is not a bad word, but society has definitely turned it into one... I’m a fat black woman, and I’m proud of my body! I love my body!     I have always loved my body. When I was little I would always walk around my room naked and just look at myself in the mirror and my mom would constantly be like go put some clothes on walking around here like you’re the Queen of Sheba! I never knew what she meant, but I liked being called a Queen, and not much has changed!     I have friends that have told me their stories of growing up, and being fat shamed by family. Honestly it breaks my heart.  I’ve listened to horror stories of their moms putting them on diets at like 8 years old. My parents nev...

Chicken or Tofu Quinoa Bowls!

Image
Hey guys I’m back with another easy delicious recipe!!! Chicken or Tofu Bowls with balsamic dressing! So let’s get into what you need!!! • 1/4 of balsamic vinegar or you can just purchase the dressing • 2/3 cup of water • 1/3 to 1/4 cup of quinoa, rinsed!! y’all lol • Boneless chicken breast strips! I purchased the Tyson brand they were cheap and on sale! * For my non meat eaters! I would probably go with firm tofu for this dish!! • Now you need garlic powder, salt, and pepper about a 1/4 teaspoon of each • 1/4 pound of fresh asparagus, I honestly used the whole bunch cause I’m made four meals • Plain greek yogurt and spicy brown mustard, but only if you plan on making your balsamic dressing and you will need 1/4 of each • 1 medium ripe avocado peeled and sliced and next my favorite cherry or plum tomatoes halved about 6 to 8 DIRECTIONS: Pre Heat Broiler • Place vinegar in a small pan and bring to boil! Cook until it’s a little thick! Transfer to a bowl and pu...

What’s your favorite tv show?!

Image
Hey guys since this a lifestyle blog I want to share lots of things with y’all! I will be saying y’all a lot because I’m Southern and we say y’all a lot lol! I also drink sweet tea as well..... man I’m hitting all those southern stereotypes today lol! Anyway I want to talk to you guys about one of  my favorite television shows!!!    One of my favorite tv shows is The Office, it's no secret. I literally reference it as much as I can! It's always weird when someone tells me that they have never seen it before. I mean a tiny bit of me is like ok Fallon everyone doesn't watch the office and that's ok! But the other part of me is like I don't trust you!     The Office is one of the shows that will never get old for me. I watch it to calm down, to laugh, and sometimes to cry.   As a lot of you guys know I quit my job at Whole Foods, and got a brand new job last year! Honey the stories I have about that place...... but anyway I now work in ...

Fearless

Lately I’ve been thinking about when I was young, and how fearless I was.... I would run through the woods by my house, ride my bike in ditches where I knew they had snakes, do cartwheels, and flips, and run around in the grass with no shoes on without a care in the world.  I can tell you the exact age that changed for me... I was 10. I was in my back yard with no shoes on and it was summer time! Summer was always a fun time! No school, and really no rules, just be inside before the street lights came on..     Well anyway I was in the backyard doing cartwheels and tumbling, and then I remember I landed on my neck different...  my mom happened to be in the yard with me that day hanging clothes on the line, and thank goodness for that because I remember screaming cause my neck kinda bent the wrong way or something.    Before I fell my mom was up under me, and I was twisted the right way again.... That’s really the only way I can describe it.....

Easy Dinner

Image
Hey Guys! I wanted to talk to y'all about easy dinner options! I basically work office hours everyday. So I find myself prepping and preparing easy meals that don't take much time or lots of ingredients. I like meals that I can have leftovers for at least two times that week.     A couple days ago I was doing some research on some new things to cook and I ran across one that I really love and its so simple and delicious. The recipe is called BLT! It's a fun little twist on a blt. In this recipe BLT stands for bacon, linguine, and tomato! It takes about 30 minutes all together to cook!  The things you need are bacon, linguine, cherry tomatoes for a little bit of a sweet taste, minced garlic, and lemon juice! Since it’s pasta you have to have cheese! So I used a little Parmesan cheese. Also a little salt and pepper! Since this is Bougie on a budget I can tell y’all exactly how much I spent on this meal! I spent 10 dollars! Yep that’...

Ya Gurl is Back!

Image
Hey guys!!!! I’m back!!! Y’all last year I was so sick with all the fibroid stuff. I wanted to write and tell you guys about my journey, and my time in the sick girl's club.  I was tired all the time!  Then once I had the surgery a month later I was back in the hospital again with surgery complications. I had a horrible urinary tract infection, and the flu. My body literally started to shut down!    WOOOO Chile! 2018 was a little rocky the first 6 months, but it ended with a bang! Cliff notes version I quit my horrible job that I was being bullied at, and got a brand new job! I refuse to be miserable ever again, and that means in any facet of my life! I moved into an awesome new apartment that's very affordable!  Also I went to Disney, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and had the time of my life! Last, but not least I'm fibroid free!    So I'm starting this year off great! I have some new adventures planned! I'll...
